10 Tips for Going Yard Saling

Alright everyone! I have been slacking again with posting but my life has been a little crazy with moving, my new job, and just getting kinda settled. But all that didn't stop us from thrifting and going to yard sales. Before I get into huge yard sale haul,  I want to talk about a few tips for going to yard sales because there is a method to yard sales. (Listed in the order I prefer) Tip #1: Fill your gas tank the night before. You are already going to be getting up at the crack of dawn and you don't want to get up an extra 15 minutes early to get gas. Tip #2: Have small bills handy! A lot of garage sale prices are low and you don't want to be that person that hands them a $20 when you only spent $1. Tip #3: Download the apps called Garage Sales by Map (gsalr.com) and Yard Sale Treasure Map to get your research started. These two apps post yard sales and garage sales in your area. They tell you the address, the time it starts, the items listed, and sometimes even pict...

Goodwill Haul #1

Image
Two posts in one day to make up for my absence! I went to Goodwill to start to find some "new" work clothes for my new job. I get to the store and the sign says 50% purple tags and then I hear someone say its actually 75% off purple tags. I was beyond excited and I found a lot of purple tags. Well, what I thought was a purple tag. Turns out that the purple tag I was looking at indicated the size of the clothing. I expressed my confusion and the lady even said that many customers get confused. I have wrote to Goodwill of Delaware on Facebook to suggest not labeling the size of the clothes the same color as the weekly deals. Despite all that, I still got all the items because I wanted/needed them. Here is my confusion with the colors. The purple tag is the size and then the green barb is the actual color. Now they may be known to frequent Goodwill shoppers but to me it wasn't. Here are the items I still ended up getting but spent a little more than I was expecting....

#1 Yard Sale day in Delaware!

Image
Well I am back everyone! I was in the middle of moving to Delaware from Florida and have been a little busy but we are moved and went to yard sales today and hit the jackpot! We found tons of tealights for $1.00 which we need for our wedding. I also found a really cute top for fall that I can wear with leggings and boots for $1.00. Then, I found a back cushion for the car which I wish I would have had for my 18 drive to Delaware. It was also $1.00. The next two items were the best part of the day. Ally has tons of tools but hasn't found a home for them but today she did and for a steal! She found a three layer craftsman tool chest for only $35!!! Then I have been wanting a bench set to lift and I found a pretty much brand new one with weights and some extra treasures for only $25!!! It was a great day!!

Dollar Tree DIY: Phone Case Update

I just got this phone case and it came with different backings but I wanted something a little different.  I used the wood grain dollar tree contact paper to spruce it up a bit to my liking. Here is the finished product that took me less than 5 minutes to complete.

Planner DIY!

I was walking through target this weekend and found a new agenda binder that I liked (my planner is looking a little beat up). I had the planner in the cart and then had a thought. I have a ton of contact paper from Dollar Tree at home so why not try to update my planner with that and if  it doesn't work then I can go back to target. Here is the before. I removed everything from the inside including the taped down envelope. The supplies I used for this project other than my planner was contact paper from Dollar Tree, scissors, a marker, index card, hot glue gun, a bone folder, adhesive Velcro, and envelopes. Next, I laid out the contact paper and measured and cut. I slowly pulled back the contact paper and used the bone fold to place it smoothly on the planner. Be sure to have the book closed while spreading the contact paper over the spine so that there is enough contact paper space to allow the book to shut. On the inside, I folded over the e...
